BBCR has developed an exceptional direct business relationship with Perdido Coffee in Nicaragua for the second release of the Coffee Origin Project . We have exclusively added their naturally processed, single origin Nicaraguan coffee to our specialty coffee lineup.

Perdido Coffee is home to several Nicaraguans who help plant, grow and harvest specialty coffee. Surrounded by lush green mountains, sun-kissed forests and forests, Perdido Coffee ’s fincas are no ordinary coffee farm. With each Perdido finca (or farm)’s unique microclimates, coffees of 7 different varieties thrive under the watchful eye of owner/operator Gil Almeid and his amazing team. Perdido employees are provided with food, housing and above-average wages. It is through the care given not only to the coffee plants, but also to the Nicaraguans who live and work on both fincas that Perdido Coffee is able to offer such high-quality coffee.

“Perdido Coffee” consists of two very distinct fincas: Finca El Cristal and Finca El Perdido.

Finca El Cristal is located on a mountaintop between 1100 and 1400 meters above sea level. It is a cooler, more unpredictable, and often windy and rainy farm. The cooler temperatures at higher altitudes allow the coffee trees to enjoy a longer growing season, while the extra moisture contributes, in large part, to the cultivation of larger, more flavorful coffee cherries that ripen more slowly than lower altitude cherries. The Anacafe variety is a good example.

Finca El Perdido is located between 700 and 900 meters above sea level. It has old growth hardwood trees and produces most of the natural coffees and honey processed coffees among the cascades of mountain streams in a dense and humid jungle. The warm and humid climate is ideal for producing a soft and sweet cherry around the coffee beans. Varieties grown include (but are not limited to) Catimor, Caturra, and Catuai.

From farm to cup, we invite you to discover the specialty quality coffee of “Perdido Coffee” . This coffee comes from Nicaragua 🇳🇮 and each batch is freshly roasted to order in Gatineau, Quebec.
