Discover the experience of barrel aged coffee!

BBCR is proud to release our latest limited edition single origin barrel aged coffee! For this release we aged 120 lbs of medium roasted Nicaragua beans in an emptied bourbon barrel for a month. Carefully monitored, hand turned daily and tested on a regular basis, our goal was to gain maximum infusion without the coffee being overpowered by the barrel.

 ROASTER'S NOTES:

  • Sweet, candied strawberries (soaked in whiskey)
  • Rich, bold body with a woody finish and dry mouthfeel
  • Brewing Recommendations: Drip, Immersion

Our barrel aged coffees have proven to be a distinct and unique coffee experience. Each aged coffee is different, and that's part of what makes them so interesting.

Not the best Bourbon combo.

The taste was a bit bitter for the beans and can't really smell or taste any of the bourbon. In the past with the other bean/alcohol combinations I would smell/taste a hint of the whiskey and such and the beans were smoother. A bit disappointed.

Hi Adrian,

Sorry your experience with this bourbon barrel wasn't to your liking. We do really try our best to put forward something unique. I would agree this version wasn't as 'in your face' with the oaky / bourbon as previous versions. I'm not sure how you brewed but we have found it is always best to use a filter system (V60, etc) for these coffees as they provide the best way to extract all the subtle nuances.

Thanks again though - we do appreciate you joining us on this coffee journey.

Shann.
