BBCR is proud to release our latest limited edition single origin barrel aged coffee! For this release we have used two different barrels - one whiskey and one bourbon. In tandem, we aged 120 lbs of medium roasted Rwanda beans in each emptied barrel for several weeks. Carefully monitored, hand turned daily and tested on a regular basis, our goal was to gain maximum infusion without the coffee being overpowered by the barrel. Barrel aging coffee imparts a whole new range of flavours and aromas on the beans.
Unlike flavoured coffee from syrups and extracts, the barrel aging process absorbs the natural flavours and aromas from the spirits and charred oak barrels. This creates a distinctively complex new style of coffee!
As a medium roast, our Rwanda single origin sits at 19 on the Roast Vision Scale and 76 on the Agtron Gourmet Colour Scale laid out by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA).
